“The Day My Shadow Got Away” is a whimsical picture book concept about a young boy whose shadow disappears one morning. That leads him on a quiet, magical chase through his house, his neighborhood, and finally into himself.
Created for my children’s illustration portfolio, this project explores light, movement, and emotion across domestic and outdoor scenes. It centers a playful, introspective main character and uses his relationship with his shadow to reflect themes of independence, presence, and self-discovery.
